Founded in 1893, Western New Mexico University serves the people of the State of New Mexico and its surrounding areas as a comprehensive, affordable, regional, rural, coeducational university. Teacher education continues to provide the foundation of WNMU`s mission, upon which has been built numerous certificate, associate, baccalaureate, and graduate programs in a wide range of disciplines.
